I don‘t have much experience with WIX. I tried using it once to build a website a few years ago and found it very limiting.
I think the site could use some improvements, speed wise and aesthetics. The type is hard on the eyes. I propose a complete makeover. I used to be real good at building websites, but that was 20 years ago and there have been a ton of improvements since then. Since I just retired for good (I’m 64 now), I have all the time in the world to start developing websites again, as well as apps etc. But I’d like to check the temperature of what others feel about it.
I would also like to query those of you who do build websites how much effort this would take. Obviously, a back-end database is necessary, given all the entries. Could be thousands of dead or otherwise incapacitated human beings when this is all said and done…plus a lot of the images must take a bunch of bandwidth with it. I know it costs money but then the site could offer “memberships” and charge say $1.99 a month. That amount would add up and pay for the site. I don’t expect anyone to pick up such costs themselves as it could be real expensive. I used to build sports forum web sites at the turn of the century and believe me, I know…I did not want advertising to ruin the experience, so I was paying a lot of money every month.
Anyway, please give your input. If the owners want to stay with WIX, that’s fine, but something has to be done about the typeset and fonts used. My two cents.
If you're using a PC, there are ways to change the settings in your browser to make web sites display more to your liking. You can select what font you prefer, what size you would like the text to be displayed (font size), and also select your preferred font color and background color. Then, you have to set your browser to display the sites with your preferences by default, as opposed to displaying the sites as they're designed.
Red text over white is bad. Bad I say.
