I'm KN95 only now, but this mask used to be my fave. Only someone who wasn't social distancing could clearly see the design. No, I did not wear it to work.
Masks have always been extremely difficult to get here. At the start of the pandemic, my wife was making multi-layer masks at home, from cloth scraps left over making dresses. (As such, her masks matched her dress patterns.)
As the pandemic wore on, with masks and sanitiser still not available here, I went with the KF-94 mask used in South Korea, and ordered a metric fuquetonne.
Even now, you cannot get masks or sanitiser here (that would be the efficiencies of free market capitalism at work).
@Kiki Thank you for the link. I will keep that stored for future use. As I noted, I have a buttload of KF-94's right now.
The South Korean KF-94 is listed as acceptable as a substitue for the N-95.
Respirator standards around the world loosely fall into the two camps of US- and EU-like grades. According to 3M, respirators made according to the following standards are equivalent to US N95 or European FFP2 respirators "for filtering non-oil-based particles such as those resulting from wildfires, PM 2.5 air pollution, volcanic eruptions, or bioaerosols (e.g. viruses)":
Korean 1st Class (KMOEL - 2017-64), also referred to as "KF94": EU grades, KF 80/94/99 for second/first/special.
Bought this online from the Netherlands at the beginning of the pandemic. I only wear it in enclosed spaces. cars etc. The front has a removable exhale valve for attending AV gatherings. Plain paper masks for going out for chores. Made of neoprene I believe. It's boilable.
@Kiki yah that's what I wore. You'll be classy for sure in the roomette. Don't be surprised if there's a glitch here and there. Order your ticket early for lower pricing. I believe you get free meals/room service with the roomette.
@Dip Dibbler Thanks, Dip! I travel via Amtrak once a year to see my family. I don't like the covid numbers right now, but I'm boosted and it's a spiritual need to see my sister, BIL, nephew, and niece. They are the world to me, especially given I have an otherwise crazy and toxic family. I'll try to post a good travelogue like you did! Hugs!
