Give the poor boy his rest. He is dead.

    in General Discussion

I wish the parents would get real. I reserve my sympathy for the lad The boy is deader than the proverbial dodo. Parts of his brain are rotting, as is part of his spine. I think it is awful and misguided. They just will not fucking listen and they are just totally selfish. The doctors want to switch the machines off and let him drift away in peace, because they can do nothing. That is part of their oath, which is not to struggle to prolong a useless life of suffering.

Now the parents want to drag him around the countryside for some reason only they understand.

I think it is a sickening performance.

By the way Hollie, do not forget to shovel a ton of makeup on your face when you run your press spectacle.

The parents of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee have pledged to “fight” to get him moved to a hospice, insisting they should be allowed to choose where he takes “his last moments”.

After the rejection by the European court of human rights of their last-ditch bid to postpone the withdrawal of Archie’s life support, the family now intends to file an application to the high court in London to transfer him out of the Royal London hospital.

His mother, Hollie Dance, said she felt “absolutely deflated” after the decision on Wednesday evening by the Strasbourg court not to intervene in the case.

    REST IN PEACE ARCHIE

More disgrace From the family. They just do not seem to get the fact that the judges took the place of the child and the child’s interest solely.

The family of Archie Battersbee have said nobody should go through what they had to and have called for an inquiry into the legal battle surrounding the withdrawal of his life support.

The 12-year-old, who was at the centre of a court row between his parents and doctors, died on Saturday.

In a statement, they said they were "stripped of all our rights".

Barts Health NHS Trust said Archie's treatment was withdrawn in line with court rulings about best interests.

Anyone else curious about why people aren't more outraged about the fact that TikTok killed him? What a trash world.

Medication and feeding was withdrawn at 10 am yesterday. The ventilator went off at 1200. He was announced dead at 1215 after turning blue.

I am sorry his family are so upset. Instead of putting trust in doctors, they became embroiled in the clutches of religious fanatics who made a private matter a public one.

It is not over yet because there will be an inquest into his death and how he got there.

How did the boy become strangled?

The machine is due to go off at 10 am UK time. The parents use emotive terms like “choreographed execution” "the authorities" All through this matter the overriding. interest is the welfare and best wishes for the child. The court is his legal guardian and the parents have not lost their position as parents. It is not any authorities responsible, the doctors asked to switch off because they cannot carry on with somethining that has no end and is "futile"- as a judge put it. Such people as indicated below have no place in making such horrendous and profound decisions.

The student did not manage to improve his CV. Read News report here

Archie’s parents have been supported by the Christian Legal Centre, who were also involved in Alfie’s case, in which Mr Justice Hayden described Pavel Stroilov, the centre law student representing Alfie’s parents, as a “fanatical and deluded young man” whose submissions to the court were “littered with vituperation and bile” that was “inconsistent with the real interests of the parents’ case”.

Stroilov was behind the attempt by Alfie’s parents to pursue a private prosecution for murder against three Alder Hey doctors. Archie’s mother has referred to the withdrawal of life support as a “choreographed execution”. Bruno Quintavalle, a barrister who has been involved in Alfie’s and Archie’s cases, was a leader of anti-abortion group ProLife Alliance and previously brought a case in his own name challenging cell cloning.

The involvement of such third-party ideologues presents a significant obstacle to the laudable aim of resolving such sensitive cases in a less adversarial manner.

Wonder if the mom will be calling in the prayer warriors to raise Archie from the dead, as in the story of Jesus and Lazarus?

It gets worse. Blame the hospital, of course. The same hospital that kept him more or less alive in hope he could recover.

"Speaking to Times Radio on Thursday morning, Ms Dance said the hospital previously told them they would be able to move Archie to a hospice but then they “just totally went back on their word”.

Asked what the day was going to be like, she grew tearful and said: “It’s going be awful today.

“I woke up absolutely sick to my stomach. Like I just feel this hospital have so much to answer for and I don’t really know what else to say today.”"

Not sure how it’s a “freak accident” to be found with a ligature around your neck. The kid made a tragic fucking decision. But it wasn’t an accident. Sad AF and I am sure she’s in tremendous pain. Waking every day, hoping it’s a bad fucking nightmare. It’s awful. He is only alive because of those machines and her insistence that she will administer mouth-to-mouth resuscitation when he’s detached will last about 30 minutes, tops, until she collapses and can’t physically do anything more. Maybe that will help her feel like she accomplished something.

Ahhhh! This reminds me all too much of... "World's Greatest Dad" where Robin Williams created a whole new reality of his relationship with his son. (And how he actually died)

These parents are being very selfish and actually cruel, their son has not been ’alive’ for years. I wonder how many people have been unable to get the treatment they need because of this waste of hospital resources.

"Doctors considered that he was brain-stem dead and should be removed from mechanical ventilation but his parents argued that in accordance with Archie’s and their own Christian beliefs, treatment should continue as long as his heart was beating."

"His parents said he wanted to be baptised and had told a family member that he would not want treatment to be removed in such a situation."

    Oh really?

It's not going to make any difference to the poor kid, where he takes his last breath.

Yep. As they say, “he gone”. Looking at the symptoms/tests which he presumably has been subjected to, he’s just a piece of meat.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainstem_death

It’s bizarre but they should just hand the kid over to them and let them pray or whatever. Just tell the parents they are responsible, make them sign for him, and let them take over whatever costs and payments. Let them set him in a corner and hang Christmas lights. The kid don’t care any more.

How in the hell can they reference "Christian beliefs" when there was no way for brain dead people to be kept alive during Christ's time? These boneheads are using that as a convenient excuse for their selfish behavior.
