Tons of homeless all along the west coast. Union jobs in WA state pay 25% above the national standard. but yah...I was in the Seattle Tacoma area recently, prices were sky high with a Pot store on about every block.
I never got help with my new luxury car, lifetime insurance, and maintenance plan/beg so my plan is a no-go. I'll continue without lol.. a while back the govt sent us emergency food. Seriously it was barely edible. ~gag~ Just hope they don't send any your way. Anyway being poor is nothing new around here. Might end up in the good old days when bank robbery and cattle rustling filled the gap.
If I recall correctly, in similar times the US started a war somewhere when the economy went south. Too bad the big corps have farmed out so much manufacturing and production to foreign countries so the execs could get richer. Sadly, aside from the self-enrichment aspect, having degrees doesn't mean much when most jobs are service jobs like Mc D's and convenience stores.
@Dip Dibbler Thanks, I just see it as the job market isn't as great as maybe some claim. Yes, certain jobs and certain areas might be booming, but you still have to contend with homes/rent prices, fuel, the price of EVERYTHING going up, no savings, etc. Losing over a million people to a Pandemic has to hurt the labor lines in some ways and we might be just seeing a little bit into the future. America has really fucked itself in too many ways.
@Pain in the Ash if we don’t screw up the economy we can’t elect more GQP. Which is why Moscow Mitch and his cronies are blocking everything. Also not helpful that too many Dems still think the GQP is actually interested in anything besides capturing the courts and blocking everything useful in order to piss off not just their base but everyone and blame the Dems who are ostensibly in power—all in their march to fascist authoritarianism.
@She sat there and she said... Clerical, but it was very hard finding something decent. I was only there a month, but no issues I was aware of and really liked the job. I went in for what i thought was just my 30 Day Evaluation and I was let go bc they didn't think I was "grasping the material"... Right to Fire states are so fun. You work just long enough, right before benefits kick in, and *boom* they find something to get you out and bring a new, arguably "cheaper", worker in. Others that list their jobs seem to be in that ballpark too - admin type. To me, it's really alarming because that's A LOT of workers that don't usually have the education just to move on.
I got let go from my job today and I did not see that coming. Once I said something on one of my SM accounts, tons of other "friends" confessed they had also been let go TODAY. I don't see why they'd lie, their circumstances are different than mine... but I find it very eerie so many people across the board lost their jobs. Also self inflicted "inflation" by companies us absolutely ruining the economy as a whole.
Sure looks like it.
Women may have to ugrade their spouses if hubby loses his job...just sayin

Sorry to hear about your job loss.
PS. There's always work in the mortuary field.
I'm so sorry! That is really frightening. I hope it works out for you.
What industry are you in?
