Sorry to hear that EA, hope it goes easy on you.
We were just visiting my 98 yo Mom in Erie, PA before Mothers Day and were staying with friends when my bud called while we were out to breaky with Mom to say he just popped positive. He'd been feeling poorly for a few days but thought he'd just been running too hard. We'd been there for 2 days by then, so were terrified that even if we didn't test positive, we still might have transmitted it to Mom.
Dropped Mom back at her residence home and told the admin, then went and tested (both neg) packed up and headed back to Maine. So far we've skated, neither of us nor Mom caught it but my buddy's wife and 2 kids both got it. We were lucky! It's still out there and shouldn't be discounted even when we're vaxxed and boosted.
Get well soon!
@educated atheist seeing your post, you sound like you definitely meet criteria for Paxlovid (antivirals). There are a few drug interactions and potential renal dose adjustments, but ask your physician about it please. It provides another 90% reduction in risk of hospitalization/severe disease, and death if taken… MUST be started within five days after onset of symptoms though.
Jesus, that’s stressful. My worst fear is giving it to my fam somehow. 98! Good genes, dude!
