The site has to move beyond pandemic topics, and toward current events topics. And for the sake of functionality it probably needs to leave Wix. Xitter and Facebook are off the table for me, but any other site that isn't overrun by far-right assholes and kooks is fine. As for support, I'm not sure I'd have enough time to moderate (I'm working on a project that will keep me busy for at least another year). Certainly I could occasionally write short articles. I recommend some kind of mission statement that defines the site's purpose and goals.

Here are a few of Purry (Ancient Cat) in younger times: This is from 2014, and we were watching some Seahawks playoff game before their Super Bowl win. Purry was playful as hell at 11 years old. This is 2010 or 2011 (he's sitting on Mrs. Fish's 2009 Infiniti hardtop convertible). He would have been a youngster of just 7 or 8 years old. Crap, I'm gonna lose my shit again. Damn, this hurts.

There are some troops I recognize every year on Veteran's Day: 1. Grand Forks AFB, 1983: A B-52 bomber exploded on the ground due to an overheated fuel transfer valve. The explosion blew out the forward landing gear, which rendered the crew entry hatch unusable. 5 enlisted mechanics died in the fire while trying to escape via the cockpit windows. Their heavy winter clothing was too bulky and trapped them halfway out the windows. 2. Barksdale AFB, 1987: A KC-10 exploded on the ground during refueling. The fuel manifold operator was killed instantly and two others were injured. 3. Fairchild AFB, 1987: A KC-135A crashed on base while practicing airshow maneuvers, they were flying very low and in-trail behind a B-52. Jet wash from the B-52 caused two of the tanker's engines to flame out. The pilot's last act was to put that aircraft down in the only open field between the maintenance offices, flying squadron offices, liquid oxygen plant, and base shopping mall. None of the facilities were damaged. Good flying, Captain Johnson. None of these folks were at war, but they died performing difficult, hazardous work as assigned to them by the nation. They are missed.

I'd like to recognize Mrs. Fish. While she never put on a uniform, she washed a hell of a lot of them. When I got the deployment orders, she got the kids and the bills and the stress. She put up with the long hours, and the promotion study sessions, and me going to college full-time while working grave shift on the flight line. I got the stripes and the awards, she got to hear about what a stellar NCO I was. On the day I retired, she got a bouquet of roses and a poem from a grateful nation, but without her I wouldn't be that NCO. Mahal kita.

I once got an ass-chewing from an Australian hotel maid because I used the word "bugger". In the U.S., "bugger" is an innocuous term for "damned annoying thing" and has nothing whatever to do with forcible sodomy. I was completely shocked at how pissed off she got over my use of that word to describe a sticking suitcase latch.

I have an American bulldog, which looks something like a Pitt in that she is extremely strong for her size. I have two jobs as a dog owner: 1. Establish myself as the alpha and elevate the status of our cats so Bulldog understands the pecking order as I see it. 2. Always keep her leashed or fenced. Period. I've never seen her get aggressive, but I live on the assumption that she has the potential do do a lot of damage. I never allow her the chance. I like Pit Bulls, but I never trust any large dog that I don't own. Yesterday my neighbor's Pit Bull got out of their fenced yard and stopped by to say "hi" to me as I was gardening. This dog and I are on friendly terms, but I trust him not at all. The most batshit crazy, aggressive dog I've ever owned was a diminutive Chocolate Labrador. She was absolutely sweet toward people but would attack other animals on sight. I got rid of her.
