Unfortunately there's a lot of it goes on.

It's the "grain of truth" that sprouts conspiracy stories.

    This is another one;

    www.reuters.com
Years after Harvard scandal, U.S. pours millions into tainted field
Faked heart studies by a once-obscure scientist duped the U.S. government and medical establishment for years. Washington is still paying for it.

If you look for the "Retraction Watch" website, there's more.

Mind numbing... so right, sometimes it's one word that "ticks" someone's brain/memory. YEARS of beliefs/$$$$ gone in an instant. Two things come to mind. Has to be one or other, don't fence straddle. Narcissistic? They just hafta be right, and they've convinced even themselves? Or flat out wrong, which has happened, obviously.

*meaning what do you think happens the most? Is it more Ego driven.

Imagine the amount of ego required of a researcher to deliberately falsify data over the course of years in order to support fraudulent hypothesis for which hundreds of thousands of dollars have been received. These same hypotheses will enable the production of drugs/treatments that will be tested in many clinical trials at great expense. The trials cannot work because the research is fake. How does the researcher expect to survive the inevitable investigations, even if the researcher honestly once believed in their own hypothesis? It boggles the mind. And yes, it is all such a tragic waste of time and resources. Shrag says journals ought to be more alert to image tampering. Maybe that's asking too much of editors who may not have those skills. Maybe we should create professional Science Police. Not entirely a joke.

Aww, Kat, that's terrible. I'm so sorry. I stopped watching football years ago because of the CTE issue. It's unconscionable.

If you want to know what’s actually going on with Alzheimer’s, look up Francisco Gonazalez-Lima, PhD. He’s been blasting apart the amyloid beta lies for years. Maybe his work will gain traction now. Buy methylene blue, peeps. Pharmaceutical grade. Word.

There are a number of therapeutic benefits with keto for a large percentage of people. We evolved this system for a reason. The reason might simply be that we should kick into it occasionally. There are some people that can’t do those fat levels. But for people that it works for, it’s pretty miraculous. The anti-seizure benefits are remarkable. The bullshit corporate keto has really fucked up the science discussion. Keto cereal? Keto ice cream? Give me a fucking break. Sigh.

I hear you. It just seems keto only works for a small number of people, and it's really hard to do well even then.

The data on ALL diet adherence is terrible. There’s not one single restrictive diet that is easy to stick to. That’s just the way it is. Keto is a highly effective diet. For some people keto is a practically a miracle. There’s no diet that’s right for everyone. I will say that most folks don’t understand what it takes to get into ketosis and they’re not in keto at all and then they say it doesn’t work. Ketosis is easy for some to get into, hard for others. Even salt consumption can fuck it up. Most people get too much protein and never enter into it. Also, everyone is different in terms of glucose disposal. So some folks can eat a lot more carbs and stay in keto. I have to be extremely rigid with not only protein but also with calories. But then once I get into keto, I can crank that calories meter way up. I can eat a lot more calories in keto than out of keto. There’s just so much individualization to all of this. My overarching wish is that everyone understood that every diet is N of 1. The one thing we can look at all diets and come to terms with is that sugar is bad. Really bad. From there we figure out how to lessen or remove it and then find the things our body likes. But none of these sensible stuff makes a fuckton of cash so all we hear is bullshit. Makes me crazy.

If Schrag is correct (and I believe he is) a huge hole just opened up-and it will take down the most prestigious science journals, and a lot of scientists/researchers with it.

If proven to be falsified, the entire field of study will be turned on its' head and a lot of people will be discredited-along with the NIH which spent millions of dollars on less than useless research.

It's really sad that some scientists will cut corners and falsify proofs of work when they're under pressure. Their egos won't allow them to make mistakes or admit them.

Which is a shame for Alzheimer's is a horrible disease which will kill millions of Americans in the coming decades as the Boomer generation dies off.

Going backwards just like the RWs want. It amazes me that no one in congress or higher up ever had to deal with something like ALS. Gehrig died in 1941? and they've made how much progress in this field since? Zero. If someone in high power was to get ALS, you'd see warped speed bullshit. Instead the people inflicted with ALS usually have very little insurance coverage with this disease, having "caps" etc. have to do a lot of th leg work and raising funds

Thanks for the article highlighting links to fraudulent research with the despicable culprits revealed. Hope the mystery of Alzheimer's is figured out sooner rather than later but this sets it back & takes up precious time with lottsa money gone byebye for certain.
