Kansas had the first abortion ballot issue vote yesterday, and voted to uphold the Kansas Supreme Court overturning restrictions put in place by the KS legislature. Abortion remains legal on demand through 22 weeks, and for medical reasons after that.
This was the first election results I checked this morning, and when I saw thisI almost cried. I’m so damn proud of the state for standing up for legal abortion.
There are only four clinics in the state, two in Wichita and two in Kansas City (Overland Park, Ks). But Missouri women now have a clinic within reasonable driving distance in KC or IL. OK women will be somewhat close to Wichita.
Of course the anti abortion groups in Kansas say they will keep fighting, pushing for more restrictions. I am afraid this is something we will have to be vigilant against as long as so many Americans are christian conservatives. Our forum members here living in highly secular countries really can’t understand how batshit these people are and what it’s like to live amongst them.

The anti-choice crowd sent out texts that lied about what a 'yes' and a 'no' vote meant. I bet they only confused their dumbass followers. That could be part of it anyway.
Certainly there has to be a lot of horror everywhere about what we've seen since the court's decision came down. Hope it's a sweep for Dems in November, but people better keep their guard up. Count on the GQP to lie and lie and lie about where they stand on this for the next 3 months, and then do a 180° if they get in. Just like those SOBs on the court did.
