Dudes, Dudettes, Mon frère (and whatever the feminine French version of "My brother" is).
El goose is cooked! Ok, I suck at languages. I know most don't give a flying F about Manifest Destiny in its original context about Native America. But, should you? It's a spark that never died out. I have to tell you I am gawd awful sick of this concept and about talking about it or living in the F'ed up reality it has created. Here's a super-duper huge FAWK YOU!! about all that. You're welcome. It's not my pleasure.
Manifest Destiny, a phrase coined in 1845, is the idea that the United States is destined—by God, its advocates believed—to expand its dominion and spread democracy and capitalism across the entire North American continent. YUK
No surprise to some of you, but this is some imperialistic BS draped and originated in Christian Talibanist's "Holier than Thou" garb to validate bloodshed, thievery, all concepts of debauchery, and a whopping huge serving of treachery. It's the validation for genocide in Amerika! Seriously American Nazi's before Germany! Being that it is associated with the idea of benevolence and God, makes it, Manifest Destiny, that much more hypocritical and scurrilous. It's the whitewashing of evil, hate, and greed.
The beginnings of colonization were through 1. Corporations, 2. Religions, and
3. Monarchies/oligarchies.The ungodly ruthless energies combined into Manifukinfest Destiny. Yay! That's Amerika today! (1,2,and 3) I use the K for Nazi/KKK in their horrifying intents and actions. Bow your heads and pray while we pick your pockets and molest your sons and daughters. Hee hee @ the sucky deviltry of it all. The Quote below is/was addressed to all the Holy Manifest Destiny Crooked Euro-Amerikan Whack Jobs back in the day.
Since our forefathers first beheld him...[thewhiteman] has filled graves with our bones...His course is destruction. He spoils what the Spirit who gave us this country made beautiful and clean. But that is not enough. He wants us to pay him besides his enslaving our country...and...that degradation of a Tribe who never were his enemies. What is he? Who sent him here? We were happy when he first came...To take and to lie should be burned on his forehead, as he burns the sides of my horses with his own name. Had heaven's Chief burnt him with some mark, we might have refused him. No, we did not refuse him in his weakness. In his poverty we fed, we cherished him-yes, befriended him, and showed the fords and defiles of our lands...We owe him nothing. He owes us more than he will pay... His laws never gave us a blade of grass nor a tree nor a duck nor a grouse nor a trout... You know that he comes as long as he lives, and takes more and more, and dirties what he leaves." What's my point? Well, Dudes, Dudettes, Mon frère (and whatever the feminine French version of "My brother" is). He's still coming!
...scholars generally define Christian nationalism as going beyond policy debates and championing a fusion of American and Christian values, symbols and identity.
Christian nationalism, they say, is often accompanied by a belief that God has destined America, like the biblical Israel, for a special role in history, and that it will receive divine blessing or judgment depending on its obedience.
That often overlaps with the conservative Christian political agenda, including opposition to abortion, same-sex marriage and transgender rights. Researchers say Christian nationalism is often also associated with mistrust of immigrants and Muslims. Many Christian nationalists see former President Donald Trump as a champion despite his crude sexual boasts and lack of public piety.
Candidates seen as Christian nationalists have had mixed success in this year’s Republican primaries, which typically pitted staunch conservatives against opponents even further to the right. AP
You good ole boy Christo-Fascists, please continue your AV death march. To the rest...You're Next! I'm ready to exit this sheit.
Thank You my lovely friend!! I truly love the fact that you are bringing history alive in the way you do. I know about the Manifest Destiny, and the continued genocide en mass that it created. The complete and utter extinction of an entire people, from which they would/will never recover, and the continued destruction of "THEIR HOMELAND". The whites and the people who support the use of this idea should all be shot. Makes me sick. Destined by god!! I wish "their" god is the one who destroys people and has done so since some fucking idiots decided that this would make for a good story, a story they stole from ancient Egypt. I wish the would be reborn so that I could meet them at their graves and punch them in the face and kill them all over again!
yah..I'm good thx!
Valid and scary. Present day “manifest destiny” is just more justification used to “other” so enemies are created while the minority power keeps ripping us all off. First used against the folks here before the colonizers arrived and now applied to anyone who dares raise a voice against it. Appreciate the topic and just wish more Americans understood the connecting threads running through our history.
Hugs to you, Dip. I'm not sure if surviving genocide is a blessing or a curse. But keep telling the story.
I feel sick, Dip. You're revealing the fuckitude of the "peopling" of America. I hate it.
