Bill Barr issued a memo before he resigned at the DOJ under trump stating that no investigations can be begun into trump or his election fraud without his personal approval.
Merrick Garland re-issued Barr’s memo. Rachel Maddow opened her show with this subject yesterday. If the DOJ wants to investigate trump on the January 6th investigation referrals, Garland has to personally green light it. As soon as trump declares he’s a candidate, Garland has to personally bless any investigations.
Maddow and guests were confused why Garland would re-issue Barr’s memo. It’s odd that Garland would bring Barr’s DOJ - obviously under trump’s thumb - into this current set of investigations. The thoughts are that Garland is just doing proper diligence to not influence an election, but the curious part is reusing Barr’s memo and possible foot dragging.
Honestly, fuck the election. Which is more important? Not disqualifying a traitor who tried to overthrow the US government and install himself as “president”? We all know trump tried to steal the election and subvert democracy. He committed treason. He’ s an insurrectionist. Investigate the fucker and let the chips fall where they may. Republicans will never respect any precedents anyway.
Why does Garland need to defer to Barr? Why is the DOJ going so slow? Why isn’t there a full-blown investigation at the DOJ now running in parallel to the January 6th committee?
I hate to say it but Merrick Garland is continuing to raise eyebrows as he defers to trumpco and his cronies. Garland needs to come to jebus and decide if he is serving democracy or serving trump.
