I didn’t see much about Paxlovid on the forum. I heard on NPR that only a few know about it. Doctors also don’t seem to know much about it. (In fact, I don’t know much about Paxlovid).
Love the idea that a bonehead that didn’t get vaxxed can take a pill to keep they out of ICU. I think they won’t bother because they have an immune system. 🥵
Paxlovid is being studied at Stanford University as a treatment for Long Covid. There is already anecdotal evidence for benefit, along with vaccines (!) so I am hoping they hurry up and get it done.
Yale is enrolling long covid cases for vaccine benefit.
Day 1, tired, sore throat, slight fever and tested COVID positive. Day 2 -morning received Paxlovid by prescription via my doc over phone conference, drive up window from pharmarcy. (instructions: 2 tablets a day for 5 days) Took first Paxlovid tablet, nap and two hours later woke up feeling a little better! Day 2 evening. took Pax tablet, felt better. Day 3 very slight fever, a little achy and sleepy but feeling good enough to clean up house. still testing positive. Day 4 feeling great but still testing positive! Day 5 tested NEGATIVE and finished up 5 day regime of Paxlovid. In my case, Paxlovid WORKED GREAT! I recommend it IF you test yourself on the FIRST day that you feel ill or know that you have really been completely exposed to someone who is positive, you test positive and then get your Paxlovid immediately and start taking it. If you wait too many days then I hear it's useless.
This kind of advice : "you ought to be alright with just otc meds" SUCKS big time.
I'll go w/ antifa vaxed : If ya got issues or high risk or (I'll add) WTF take the dose.

The government Website shows the medication is unavailable around here. The nearest place it is available is sixty miles away (only one hospital in the Nebraska Panhandle is allowed to have the medication), and you have to be sent by a physician to receive it.
If you're lucky, you had your booster a few weeks before you tested positive, you ought to be alright with just otc meds. But if you haven't been boosted yet or if you were more than 5 months ago and now you're positive--a vax won't do you any good and they won't give you one. And so the Paxlovid would be the best option to control the virus in your body. Either way it's best to be vaxxed or paxxed to keep you out of the hospital.
My husband and I both tested positive last week. I asked my doctor and she said to just treat with OTC. I'm over 50 with no known medical conditions other than being a little fat. My husband was told that it wasn't for him since he has heart palpitations (he's on beta blockers). It seems there aren't really prescribing it in our area much.
Should be reserved for vulnerable vaccinated folk. AVers shouldn't get it. Fuck them.
I’ve actually dispensed this a couple of times. My pharmacy has a clinic inside of it and the nurse can prescribe this now with positive covid. Oh and the best part is that we can bill it a certain way and it’s free. I honestly wish we could charge the AVers but I don’t get to make those rules.
