I do not have a TV so get my news online and through various sources. I admit I can be out of touch sometimes. I rarely get "celebrity" stuff unless I check the additional choices YouTube gives while watching a video/movie. Today, Shania Twain came up. Although not a country fan perse (although yes, there many country songs I love) Shania has always delivered interesting "out there" country and pop music I can sing and dance to. After watching the documentary of her making of "man, I feel like a woman," I chose the next suggestion of an interview.
At 16:00 she speaks candidly of her life threatening COVID infection and subsequent pneumonia. I had no idea.
She has also had Lyme disease, which I knew as I also have it. Having been through so much, from losing her parents at a young age and becoming her child sibling's soul lifeline, losing her voice from Lyme nerve damage to having a husband dump her, she still makes 57 look good! Do I sound jealous? Hell yes a little pang, because damn, not only is she a great beauty, a remarkable spirit, and an amazing singer/songwriter, she turned the COVID experience into a song! All in all it was an uplifting experience from our Canadian country darling.
She's taking a huge risk touring. Once a virus gets going on a tour bus it's pretty much going to keep infecting everyone over and over. Even though she flies private and has her own spaces on the road, it's putting band and crew (and herself) at risk every day all day.
She sounds traumatized by her experience with covid. Her voice has changed, too.
