Former friend of mine, drummer/carpenter, helped me produce my last album and was pretty cool until he went down the corona-is-a-hoax rabbit hole, tested positive today and now has the mother of all man colds. Has been resolutely anti-vax, believes in the plandemic bullshit, red pill, flat earth, sheeple in the matrix, the whole nine yards. Also a Trump fan which really made me realize that him unfriending me was no big loss. His poor GF has been putting up with his shit for a couple of years now and she's vaxxed and now sick also. FUCK THESE IDIOTS. Part of me hopes that he winds up in the hospital as penance, but that would be tough on her, so no. Doubt if he'll change his tune, but seriously hope he has the dose from hell.

My idiot cousin who lives in Toronto caught covid from her adult kid in May. Her husband and both kids got sick. All of them were unvaxxed because [insert any stupid reason favored by an AV]. She ended up with pneumonia but was not hospitalized. Sick for a month and now complaining of long covid but boasting about the super immunity she has now. I just can't with these people.
The girlfriend is on Day 10 (vaxxed not boosted) and has now lost taste and smell. Poor thing!
UPDATE. He's now blaming Trudeau for the mandates that kept him off an airplane to visit his brother who died the day after a heart attack last winter, and is saying (to the PM) 'you will pay'. Um, no buddy, it was YOUR CHOICE that kept you off the plane. Too bad you have the dumb. ๐
A former friend in my age group (70s) is now in the ICU with Covid.
I have known him since grad school, so just over 50 years.
He went full Trump after supporting Bernie in 2016, and I really chewed him out, and he told me to fuck off and lose his number.
Last week, his ex-wife called me and asked me to speak with him in a group call, so I reluctantly agreed.
Hardly five minutes went by when he started in with all the โstolen electionโ crap, and then he said that he doesnโt have Covid, even though he had a really scary cough.
On this call, he was really nasty to his ex, the mother of his five kids, which saddened me so much because we had all been close for decades.
I wished him well, but he didnโt respond, and then the call was terminated on his end.
He looked and sounded awful so I think that he wonโt be leaving there alive.
I blame the Orange Slopbucket for all the hatred running rampant throughout the US, and I blame my former friend for his horrible decisions and his embrace of that abomination.
There is really nothing that we can do when former friends have fallen so deep into the Cult of 45.
So how is your buddy doing with the "flu." If he is better, be sure to send him the list of long COVID symptoms that people are experiencing... not that I wish that on him! *cough* (I am trying to be good and not hateful, honest!

Hair loss is my personal favorite consequence that can befall these idiots. It's a lingering reminder of their foolish choices.
The best outcome we all can hope for is that it scares the living shit out of him enough to change his mind, and then become a vaccines advocate.
But as you said, it's not likely to happen, so the other positive outcome would be for his GF to find a better BF.
