Gifted article from the WAPO: How this pandemic has changed all of us, forever.
This is why we're here.
One million dead: The U.S. death toll from the covid-19 pandemic will hit that unfathomable number this week, and yet there is a far larger number that reflects the true impact this virus has had on Americans over the past two years. That number is 9 million — the number of Americans who have lost spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings and children to covid.
Yes, we do make fun of the unvaccinated and mock them. But underneath our mocking is the reality: victims leave an average of 9 people who are directly affected by their deaths.
Are there any official numbers on the amount of Covid orphans, also the number of them being looked after by family versus the number of them having to go into the care system?
This highlights the selfish behavior of the people who refuse to get vaccinated and either die, or leave behind families that have to deal with the consequences of their decisions. How many SAV stars have left behind 3,4, 5+ young children, plus a mountain of medical debt? How many have to care for their ravaged bodies?
Far too many to count. I'd say there's probably at least another 500,000 people who have become long term incapacitated due to having Long Covid. It hasn't been officially stated.
The selfishness of this country is astounding, and I'm always pissed that the ones who took the vaccines and boosters without murmuring are called stupid or sheep.
A sheep I might be, but I'm alive and surviving. What's so stupid about that? Is dying for a FB meme so heroic? For a fraud who conned them into not getting protected?
Darwin was right and his law is immutable.
