If you show the symmetrical pattern to someone who doesn't know what it is, I'll bet they won't find it disgusting at all. It's disgusting to you because you've seen the original photo and you know what the image really is.

And here is the symmetrical pattern; created by simply "flipping" the square four ways, pasting all four together, then pasting that image multiple times.

To reiterate: these are easy to do! Anyone with basic image editing software can make a symmetrical design out of a grotesque photo!
For best results, select a portion of a photo with a good variety of shapes and colors.
