tRUMP's 2024 campaign slogan seems to be resonating with far too many people. If he elected, he promises to go on a revenge tour and get back at anyone who slighted, offended, opposed him in any way and he has promised that he will use military force against his perceived enemies. tRUMP usually only repeats things that he knows will attract more to his cult and pull in the fringe for more votes. The saddest thing is you won't know how well this has worked until people vote.
There is no shortage of vindiction 2024 URLs from yesterday's flurry of repeat stories. This one summarized major articles and noted the projection:
At an October campaign stop in New Hampshire, Trump went on a tear that said the left has “weaponized law enforcement” to “arrest their leading political opponent: me.” He said it was “third world country stuff” and then, chillingly, “that means I can do that, too.” Accordingly, his advisers are reportedly plotting how to use the Justice Department to follow through on that promise.
Marcy wheeler reminded of a different perspective, which should also be noted. The retribution speech Trump gave at CPAC. His 2024 platform
“The sinister forces trying to kill America have done everything they can to stop me, to silence you, and to turn this nation into a socialist dumping ground for criminals, junkies, Marxists, thugs, radicals, and dangerous refugees that no other country wants,” he said. The speech was ominous, but one rhetorical flourish stood out. “In 2016, I declared I am your voice. Today, I add: I am your warrior; I am your justice,” Trump said. “And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.” He repeated the last phrase—“I am your retribution” - and promptly the crowd started chanting: “U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!”
When I spoke with Bannon a few days later, he wouldn’t stop touting Trump’s performance, referring to it as his “Come Retribution” speech. What I didn’t realize was that “Come Retribution,” according to some Civil War historians, served as the code words for the Confederate Secret Service’s plot to take hostage—and eventually assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.”
tRUMP hinted this summer just how he and his minions plans to do it.
Trump and Allies Forge Plans to Increase Presidential Power in 2025 The former president and his backers aim to strengthen the power of the White House and limit the independence of federal agencies.
Ruth Ben-Ghiat: So, strongmen and authoritarians are not like other politicians. For example, many of them are under investigation when they run for office. That was true with Berlusconi in Italy, with Putin, with Trump in '16 — 2016. And now he has his legal woes. Netanyahu. And so the purpose of getting into power becomes to capture the judicial system and make yourself untouchable.
