Has anyone seen this film? It's a true story. Marjoe was a cute, bright kid raised by religious grifters to be 'a little preacher'. Later in life he turned away from that life and exposed many of the scams pulled by these 'preachers', including their money-grabbing and their tricks and fakery. Some dupes refused to believe what he was showing them (now where have we seen that before?).

Fascinating. Some things never change. Years ago (1981) a cousin invited me to a revival meeting. Cuz was newly ’saved,’ naïve nice guy. This was in Washington state where the holy roller culture isn’t so pervasive as in South & Midwest. Young Preacher Guy was a WEIRD Marjoe-type. He kept calling up young women to be prayed over, then they would faint spontaneously at his touch (“slain in the Spirit”). I didn’t go forward to see if I too would ”faint“ but it was … all so odd. I was a sincere Christian (at the time) but … even then I could see these Fundies were gullible nutcases, & some evil grifting liars. It WAS an entertaining spectacle FWIW.
Religious experience: 30 minutes in, Marjoe is singing “lay my burden down” and my tablet and small table both flipped over, crashed to the floor and even unplugged its own cord. My burden has been laid down! Hallelujah! Shit fire and save the matches!
