Yes, my daughter is a "foodie" too, and she bemoaned the fact that many/most of the foods/additives on the high histamine list, are wonderful tasting, or additives that make other foods wonderful tasting. BUT, when she first tried eliminating them, it helped her SO much, that she just continued with it. But she is a creative cook, so she sometimes is able to find a low histamine alternative to some part of a recipe. Also, after she got relatively stabalized on that diet, her doctors told her, that she could TRY one high or moderate histamine thing at a time to add to her diet and wait a couple of days to see if it negatively affects her. It is a long and tedious process. She keeps detailed notes, and keeps her medical staff updated on what she finds out about her own body. Good luck with your trial period.

I understand how you could have misunderstood my comment. I was posting it, so that people could see that there are actually legitimate clinics that are working on the many problems of long covid. I forgot to mention that another thing that they suggested to her, and that WORKS FOR HER, is for her to get on a very low histamine diet. The first week she did that, and she was VERY careful, she got so much energy back! The problem with that diet, of course, is that it is very restritive and she can no longer eat in restaurants, since she never knows exactly what is in the food that she eats in a restaurant, and there might be some minor ingredient that will re-trigger her inflammation (caused by the histamine), and then she will feel crappy for days. She cooks everything herself with basic ingredients that she knows have very low, or no, histamines (and she changes recipes to remove higher histamine ingredients and replaces them with other ingredients). If your doctors have not suggested that, you might look it up on the internet, and try doing a low histamine diet for a week or more and see if your energy or brain fog gets better. It is online, because they treat people in several states. My daughter and her fiancée are both very smart women, and if it were a scam, they would have figured it out by now. She had to get on a wait list to get into this clinic. When she first had long COVID, she couldn't get dressed herself, she couldn't take a shower herself, she couldn't stand up for more than 10 minutes at a time without laying down for several hours. She also would get migraines from any loud noises, or even not so loud noises, and she would sometimes stand up, and then feel faint to almost pass out. Since she has been with this clinic, they have tried many things for her specific problems. I tell people that her progress is like the stock market: there is a general upward trend, but sometimes there's little dips. She has mast cell activation syndrome, and PoTS. They had her on a variety of medications and vitamins and minerals that she bought on her own, and also she is supposed to be drinking high salt drinks to help stabilize her blood pressure. And she wears a medical corset to help push the blood up towards her brain. As she has gotten better, she doesn't have to wear the corset all the time like she used to. She talks to the doctors every couple of weeks or the nurses she can contact them anytime she needs. They also work in coordination with nearby, hospitals, and medical centers if she needs other things done. I do understand that the fact that you're from Canada, means that anything in the United States having to do with medical is suspect. I have run across shyster doctors during my long years of life, and I can assure you that everything I've heard from my daughter and her fiancée about this group leads me to believe that they are really high quality. But as you know, long Covid has not been totally figured out. And it seems that everyone who has it has different issues. So each person's case has to be figured out individually. My daughter is lucky that she and her fiancée can afford such specialized care. I agree that it should be available to everyone and paid for with tax dollars as things like this are done in Canada. But I am only one voter in the United States. And we seem to have a lot of really crazy people here. Many more than I thought existed.

Forgot to add that they do consulting with the patient online. When the patient needs bloodwork or other specimens, they send lab people to your home. For certain things, they will find a nearby hospital where you can get the work done. If they don't work in your state, you might ask them for similar organizations near you.

My daughter is 38 and has had LONG Covid for over a year and a half. She got it after a case of Covid. She is now getting treatment from a group called RTHM (doctors and researchers). They keep testing her and try various treatments for the issues that she has (she has PoTS, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and probably other things). Sometimes, what they prescribe for one thing, helps that one thing, but makes something else worse, so they back off and try something else. Unfortunately, it is expensive and all out of pocket, since even though she has good health insurance, if sometrhing is not approved by the FDA for treatment of that exact thing, it is not covered (I think). Babies and older people can DIE from pertussis! I just had my most recent TDaP (Typhoid/Diptheria/Pertussis) shot. I am 77 and want to stay up to date on everything. Also had the Newist COVID shot, and the NEW RSV shot, and my flu shot (quadrivalent for older people). All within the last month or so.

I am certainly NOT going to "like" this post! It is horrific! That so many in the armed forces put up with these people means that many of them are on the SAME side. I am SO SAD for our country.

At my current age of 77, looking back on my life, I would like to be remembered as a person who tried to rectify the many mistakes I made in my past, most importantly, with my daughter (for whom I was a terrible mother for so long, without being aware of it), and with my ex (even though we were both culpable, I did many things out of spite, that I now regret). I continue to try to make those things right before I leave this earth.

She is only following what her doctors recommend. I am not sure whether or not she has had the bivalent. Whenever I ask those kinds of questions, I am berated, so I don't ask them anymore. I know that the doctors have put her on some beta blockers (which I thought were supposed to be for high blood pressure, yet she has low blood pressure some of the time and has to drink lots of salty liquid every day -- and the beta blockers apparently gave her back a lot of her energy). Also the low histamine diet reduced her inflammation a lot! So, the doctors told her to add back some of the higher histamine foods, one at a time and see if she reacts to each one. She keeps a detailed diary of the foods she eats and their affects on her each day. Handling the Long COVID seems to be a full-time job.She has POTS and MCAS. They did lots of blood and urine and stool sample tests on her and they said that she has some smaller blood clots, which I think they are trying now to treat. So, I only know what she wants to tell me.

UPDATE: May 6, 2023 It is now been over 10 months. My daughter was able to join https://rthm.com which she participates in online and has a team of doctors and other professionals both researching Long COVID, as well as treating patients by "trial and error" in many cases. But they have suggested many things which have greatly improved my daughter's stamina and other symptoms. She is still very far from completely well, but she says that she feels like she has her personality back. She still has a walker with a seat (so that if she gets suddenly exhausted, she can sit. And uses a cane, when she isn't with the walker. She wears a medical corset and support stockings to push the blood back up to her head, and is on a special low histamine diet to reduce inflammation. She has to take a variety of pills six times a day! She pays for much of this out of pocket, including the cost of the Long COVID clinic. She still can't work, but luckily her fiancée makes very good money and so can afford it.
