OK, I wear a mask everywhere I go the second I leave my car(I live in the liberal part of WA, and I'm a football player-sized Black guy, so I don't get questioned). When I get to work, I take off my mask in my ventilated office, and I put it back on when I leave my office to go anywhere(even the bathroom - I might be at a urinal next to someone). My policy(I deal with public relations) is to take an antigen test every other day, and a test before dealing with the public(medical appointments, etc.). I have to pay out of my pocket for the tests and the masks, but when I was young I learned about civic duty with the Romans, and something just stuck. (I also put my hand up when I read the oath for mail-in voting.) To me, being a citizen means looking out for others. hence keeping them safe as well as myself. I'm not trying to sound super-patriotic or anything, I just felt that we should help each other out, even if others don't.

Yeah, I get a little preachy at times. What pissed me off was: 1. The cavalier attitude of " Yeah(getting Covid), it was no big deal." - BECAUSE OF THE VACCINE, MAYBE? The person who said that was the senior enlisted leader, and the Chief who joked about "getting all the shots except one." was his subordinate. As a former Sailor, this was infuriating for one reason: Getting the vaccine was an order. Other military personnel lost their livelihoods for not following orders. And yes, 2. And yes, Chiefs in the Navy takes an average of 13 years, and the first thing you do in boot camp is take your full series of vaccinations. And being a submariner is voluntary. So yeah, I believe he took all the other shots. 3. I did want the Command Master Chief to say more, not just "it was no big deal." To me it felt like a man who has no problem going on long rants to tow the Navy line shouldn't just blow off that little fact that he might have been fine because he followed orders. 4. I did feel they were trivializing it too much. And yes, I could have phrased this better: The wife was my boss' - not connected to the other two. I hope this clears things up... It's kind of funny, when you leave the service, you think you'll just toss it off, but there's enough Dig-it-ness to be upset at military doing stuff "wrong". Surprisingly, not fully. He's a InfoWars person, but he's also someone you can have a conversation with and not be preachy. I feel you; we didn't see a lot of the lower requirement folks(subs require a higher qualified level of sailor - even the cooks). What screwed is up were the older, higher level personnel with the '50s mindset, and Das Boot mentality. I see it now with the older retirees spouting of bullshit like "it was better in the old days! these young sailors(can't just say 'boys' any more - women can serve now) can't handle boat life!" Our biggest issue is that very few of us actively went down range in combat, so we are sometimes as impressionable as civilians. And yes, I do know a handful of sailors who are probably dancing to the Neo Nazi beat... A side effect of having a smarter cadre of members is that they're easy to outsmart with bullshit if you know how"(the stories I could tell about the things some people believe...).
