Something that occurred more often during omicron was vaccinated people dying. Those who were up to date on boosters have been the least likely to die, but it happens. Other health issues/comorbidities a factor would be my guess. Cait looks healthy in the photo, but may have had health issues that made covid more severe for him.

Well, today is the 4th and I’ve eaten no brains. I am craving the crack chicken casserole I plan to make later today as my holiday weekend treat however. The gullibility and stupidity of the Q people never ceases to amaze me.

Given when she caught covid, 90 days may elapse about the time the new boosters become available. And they will be come one, come all. And boy do we need them as the original formulations that still worked decently against the delta variant even as preventative, have struggled against omicron.

So sorry to hear this. Infuriating that someone who did all the right things got covid, and then long covid. Since she has a good doctor, she had least has an above average chance of full recovery.

Not just covid vaccine uptake, but all vaccines. I think there is a segment of the population that didn’t give much thought to getting theirs kids‘ childhood immunizations, or getting a flu shot at work. Now they have fallen down the anti vaxx rabbit hole. In my childhood, all the kids got their shots. We still got measles, mumps, and chickenpox as those vaccines were not yet available. And we understood how wonderful it was to not have to worry about smallpox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus. I had mild cases of measles, mumps, pox but would have happily missed all three. And now we are at risk of throwing it all away because of stubborn ignorance. I’m a bit of a pessimist about the future; climate change alone means tough times ahead. Last thing people need are epidemics of diseases that are preventable.

My worry is when it gets into schools and daycares, some parents might accuse staff/teachers of molesting their kids. Remember the satanic panic back in the 1980s? There is no limit to the insanity these folks will believe.

My dad refused to darken the door of a church except for other peoples’ weddings thanks to my crazy United Brethern grandmother. Mom was raised in the Christian (Disciple of Christ) denomination. It sounds bible thumping but is middle of the road protestant. Mom was an RN so often worked Sundays. On weekends off, there were other things to do. So our church attendance was mostly C&E. In fifth grade I starting attending regularly, as there were some cute boys who attended. The church also had activities for kids and teens, hayrides, dances and such; in a small town they provide a lot of the social life. Ultimately, that is why I went.😁 When I was 14, we moved to a small city. Visited a couple churches, but really wasn’t interested and no longer needed the social life our small town church had provided. Like a lot of boomers, I dabbled in eastern philosophy, and still meditate a few times a week. I have thought that since I wasn’t taken to the church regularly as a little kid, it wasn’t able to indoctrinate me at a very young age. Made it easier to leave it behind.

Yeah, some of the kids are flippin’ the bird. The photo in the Twitter thread is bigger, and their little middle fingers are up. It also been pointed out that Brandon Stratka, in addition to snitching on other J6 protesters is gay. Conservative Christian folk, including MTG, really don’t like gays. Maybe they didn’t get the memo? Trump is addressing the convention tonight. Those people may be rolling in the aisles and babbling in tongues like spirit filled Pentecostals. Should be quite the sight if one can stomach it.

It has been announced that a day care worker in IL has monkey pox; 40-50 people exposed, including kids. 😕 I was worried about this getting into schools and daycares during the winter holidays. It is already starting. This is going to be a mess, with polio active in NY also. The AV community will be producing plenty of fresh meat, just not as many the result of covid. Kids may end up bearing the brunt of this, and that is a tragedy.

The global south is starting to align itself with China and Russia to better enable thumbing their nose at the US and NATO. Right now we have pumped billions into Ukraine that are desperately needed at home to rebuild infrastructure, and fund programs to help the many people who need it. We imposed a multitude of sanctions against Russia which seem to have hurt us more than the Russkies. They have shaken them off like a dog shakes off a few fleas. I don’t support Russia’s SMO, but the US effort has failed to bring a peaceful settlement. As long as Tony Blinken and Vicky Nuland are involved, will be tough to achieve that. Then for good measure, Pelosi goes to Taiwan and riles up China.🙄 The global south has already started on the popcorn folks. The US is not going to come out of this the sole super power. I just hope we make it through with no nukes exploding.

LOL. Once upon a time, most Republicans were pro choice. Gerald and Betty Ford were; so was George Bush Sr and Barbara. I’ve read that Barbara remained pro choice, but kept her mouth shut once hubs became VP. Barry Goldwater tried to warn the party not to go courting religious nuts. Reagan ignored him. Now the nut jobs have gone from a small portion of the party, to running it. And elected Trump to be their fearless leader. As far as his and the kids stance on abortion I would bet privately they are pro choice. Grrrrr.😣
