Moving to purple states might be better. I’ve thought about it & whenever I say it out loud, people laugh at the notion. But retired folks with pensions might find it feasible. Cheaper than the coasts too. Anti-government rhetoric has been seeding the minds of the less educated & rural people for decades & now it’s borne fruit. Plus Democrats f-ed up & neglected the working class and lost a lot of them. Anyway a lot of the battle is telling the right story enough times.

Mid 1970s (almost 50 years!), in my very white-privileged high school (our town’s unofficial nickname was “Lake NoNegro”), my US history teacher, an English woman, let us have the unvarnished truth on the US’s sordid history regarding Native Americans. Treaty after broken treaty. She was treating us teens as adult citizens who needed know the truth. I appreciated this, but the facts certainly were overwhelminglot awful. I don’t remember any other HS history classes. I hate hate hate the current efforts to literally whitewash the teaching of our history in public schools.

It’s my birthday, so we’re going up to Mt Hood & stay at Timberline Lodge. It’s a splurge but I’ve always wanted to stay there. Not sure what else we’ll do besides enjoy the lodge as weather is so wet & cold. Have a good weekend, all!

Yes, after so many “same song, different tune“ pathetic cases, the OT comments connecting the disinformation dots together is one of the best features of SAV. But the best thing is the irreverent humor. Anyhoo… I’m in a FB group, ‘Christians Against COVID Denialism.’ Much less entertaining and very polite. They wring their hands, vent at their maskless, vaxless brethren, and just don’t get how so many of their fellow Christians are so muddled and, basically, ”un-Christ-like.” Some of this group (a few) have been on our site. Anyway it’s interesting to see how some of them end up questioning their more fundamental beliefs because of their brutal experience with these ignoramuses. Anyway count me pro-OT and proud!
