Well written and well thought out. I tend to think the truth is in the middle of what he said versus what the GQP say (I'd say think, but let's be honest on that point). I wonder how to keep the momentum up surrounding this. Fatigue is a real thing and I imagine at some point, even those that started out robustly masking, maintaining vaxxing and so forth will eventually grow lax. I think we need to stay vigilant, but not at the sort of fervor that, say, Faux News reports on there being a new "war on"... every few days. I'm just not sure how to maintain the focus and drive while not lulling everyone into a point of pure fatigue so it all sounds meaningless.

That's part of it. You have to also think about the fact that so many are Christo-Fascist (or Christian Nationalist) types. My ex-friend supported so many policies that the Right thump about all the time: increased guns, lack of masks, anti-abortion and so forth. I also know for a fact he hopes that all of this speeds up the time that Jeebus comes down and Rapturizes everything, leaving us poor schmucks to languish. They believe that if they make this place a true shithole, that Jeebus will come to clean house and then people like him get to go to Heaven quicker. This ex-friend believed that we are all dead men walking and "clones of a living dead man (Adam), not sons of god. With that, he also believes that this place here is basically hell already, so spending as little time here as possible (without suicide) is the way to go. It's a truly brain-damaged way to think, but this is what I got from arguing with him for years.

I agree with Vaxxylady that breaks are very important. I already don't comment on as many of the atrocities that we see here (and make far shorter posts). Check in when you feel like it. Chances are, most of us will still be here and ready to hear from you!

I'm not really certain it will do much. This country is more divided than ever and I'm not sure a new party will benefit anyone. I know tRump had said some time ago he wanted to start one and we were hopeful it would pull enough reThugs away to torpedo their chances, but that never coalesced. Part of me is in favor of more than one party since I feel Dems are way too weak to get things done, but I have no reason to believe a new party, especially founded in part by a combination of Dems and reThugs will be any better, nor will it not somehow devolve into a potential fascist party since reThugs are part of it.

Oddly no, that wasn't the one I saw... but this works just as well. What is wrong with people? Why should this ever be regarded as normal? I guess the real question is, why did it get pulled? Surely not because of common sense or feelings of deceny. This is how the poster genuinely feels, and since the narrative is that more guns = more bettererer safe areas, then why pull it? Usually these people double down at this point and challenge us to somehow prove them wrong.

I'm with you on that. How about that one picture I saw floating around that shows three girls all holding various guns that are way too big (and the girl in the middle is probably barely in school). In no reality should that be considered normal or sane, yet they seem perfectly willing to take these pictures and make believe these girls absolutely share these values. As you say, indoctrination in its purest damn form.

Wholeheartedly agree. Democrats in general mean well but have no energy, no courage, no fortitude and no ability to do anything even when they actually are in power because they afraid of somehow angering the other side. Problem is, we needed good leadership before and their general lack of wanting to get anything done is the reason we are all in this fucking mess right now. There are precious few Democrats in office currently that deserve to stay in office for the rest of the day , let alone the rest of their terms. Generally, they are ineffectual, cowardly, spineless and lacking any sort of drive to actually get business taken care and all of them deserve to burn slowly to death in the fire of their ineptitude.

I'm confused... why does anybody on the right in Australia think Drumpf will do a goddamn thing for them? If it's not in his personal best interest, he will pretty much do anything to succeed. Australia's a country he barely has even heard of. The Murdoch's are all quite evil things and should be buried and scattered before their corpses rise up and reanimate again.
