Yeah, but what do those calcs accomplish? My understanding is they are basically very difficult, time and energy consuming busy work, so no problem solved, work accomplished or actual benefit to completing a calc other than being awarded a unit of currency which may or may not be equal in value to the energy and infrastructure investment. Plus, are there not a finite number of bitcoins to be mined? What happens when the last one is mined? Is it subject to free market valuations or retired as a curio?
