My husband and I ran into the daughter of my former neighbor yesterday. I had seen in the local news media that she was organizing an anti-vaccine group to demand schools and public health groups capitulate to their perspective. She's very nice, but a dedicated homeopath, vegetarian, retired culture warrior. After some friendly hellos and small talk, inevitably SHE introduced the vaccine issue. After a bit of comparison of the issues I volunteered that we were vaxxed and boosted, hoping that would end the discussion. NOT. She persisted in citing chapter and verse from her anti-vaxxer themes. She tried to get me to debate her even after I said we had to be going. On and on with her talking points. She nearly spoiled our visit to the farmer's market. After we finally escaped her, I mentioned to my husband that she had ticked me off with her proselytising. At that moment I saw her walking past us and ahead without looking at us. I hope she heard EVERY WORD of what I said. This is the dictatorship of the anti-vaccine groups, they will not, cannot tolerate other viewpoints and persist in pushing their misguided beliefs on everyone to the point of rudeness. PS She caught Covid last fall and claimed this proved vaccines don't work. She also said she has long Covid which I doubt, she looked perfectly healthy. Another tell, the hypochondriac feature.
