HHS is set to lose 20,000 positions across CDC, FDA, and NIH. A federal judge temporarily halted the cuts, but the message is clear: evidence is expendable. Add the cancellation of 1,600+ NSF grants, and you've got a brain drain in motion. The first causality of authoritarian drift is FACTS. Science, Education & Media: Campus Crackdowns and News Warfare Duterte muzzled teachers and rewrote curriculums to serve his nationalist agenda. Trump is doing the same, but with more lawyers and headlines. Linda McMahon is hollowing out the Department of Education, heading toward potential abolition. DEI has become a four-letter word. Hundreds of university staff have been suspended or fired, DEI initiatives dismantled, and federal funding yanked. Then came the Harvard showdown. Trump ordered Harvard (and peer schools) to ditch DEI or risk losing billions in federal grants and contracts—roughly $3 billion across multiple agencies. Harvard sued, arguing the move threatened academic freedom and the First Amendment. And while that battle rages, Trump deployed the same playbook against media: Banned outlets like AP, Reuters, and Bloomberg from the White House press pool. He pulled federal funding for public broadcasters NPR and PBS via executive order. Targeted Voice of America and Radio Free Asia—placing over 1,300 staff on leave and cutting contracts. Threatened prosecution of CNN over coverage of the ICE‑tracking app. It’s all part of the same authoritarian pattern: institutions that challenge power get starved, silenced, or sued. Critical thinking? Cancelled. Independent journalism? Under attack. When education and media become enemies, democracy is in trouble. Using the DOJ as a weopon Duterte used his DOJ to crack down on dissent. Trump’s DOJ isn’t investigating Wall Street as they should—they’ve sued California over sanctuary policies and preyed on blue cities, they've even arrested a judge and gone after democratic congressmen, twisting justice into a political tool. Foreign Affairs: Trading Allies for Strongman Clout Duterte pivoted toward China, shrugging off the U.S. Trump’s Rubio-led State Department has slashed over 700 positions, axed democracy-promotion offices, and replaced diplomacy with deal-making. They've aligned with Russia, and have attacked our closest allies. Echoes and Warnings Both Duterte and Trump weaponized fear—of drugs, immigrants, and “biased” elites—while collapsing the very institutions built to check power. One used gunfire on the streets; the other used executive orders, subpoenas, lawsuits, and budget lines. Erosion by Design Expect more deportations, agency purges, education wars, and media crackdowns—each a small cut, but together, a democracy killer. This erosion doesn’t erupt—it seeps. Strongmen don’t always seize power violently. Often, they choke it through legal and extralegal mechanisms. Once you've hollowed out your watchdogs—academia, science, media and institutions, the rot spreads. The playbook? Find an enemy, cripple oversight, and claim you’re protecting the people. They aren't overthrowing democracy yet, they are simply cutting it bit-by-bit into to irrelevance. Could There Be No Election? We all know the ultimate step, and it sounds like the plot of V for Vendetta. But if we’ve learned anything from the Philippines under Duterte, it’s that no tactic is truly off the table once democratic norms start to rot. What's bubbling under the surface today is this: What if there is no real presidential election in 2028 at all? "Emergency" is a Tool for Authoritarians Authoritarian leaders love emergencies. In the Philippines, Duterte used the "drug war crisis" to justify police militarization. Later, during COVID-19, he extended emergency powers to bypass legislative oversight, threaten journalists, and centralize executive authority. In the U.S., Trump has already laid the groundwork: constant talk of "border invasions," "domestic terrorism," "blue state insurrections," and "foreign election interference." Now imagine this: as 2028 approaches, Trump’s administration manufactures or amplifies a national emergency, let’s say large-scale riots or coordinated violence in major cities. This could be spun as a justification for postponing or even suspending elections "for public safety." People point to what happened in Los Angeles earlier this year — the massive federalized crackdown following city-wide protests against the DHS raids. Over 1,000 protesters were detained without charge for more than a week. Military vehicles rolled through South Central LA and Koreatown, and local officials were powerless to intervene. It was a "dress rehearsal" for martial law. It wasn’t labeled that officially, of course — it was spun as a "temporary federal stabilization directive." But the ingredients were all there: curfews, media blackouts, broad surveillance sweeps, and National Guard units acting under direct federal orders rather than the governor of California. It might sound impossible, "This is America, not the Philippines" we tell ourselves. But under the Insurrection Act of 1807, the president has broad authority to deploy the military domestically without state approval. Trump has already flirted with invoking it during his first term in 2020, when protests erupted nationwide after George Floyd’s murder. Combine that with a loyal Department of Justice, a defunded and cowed media, and an ICE-DHS apparatus now bloated with funding, and the scenario of indefinite "emergency rule" stops sounding like paranoia and starts feeling chillingly plausible. MAGA supporters will cheer the destruction of democracy Duterte stayed in power largely because a huge segment of Filipinos genuinely believed he was "cleaning up" the country. Similarly, Trump’s base is deeply loyal and often receptive to narratives of existential threats. If convinced that elections are "compromised by illegals" or "controlled by global elites," a significant chunk of voters might actually support suspending them "temporarily" to "save the republic." That’s the ultimate authoritarian twist: it doesn’t always take force to kill democracy. Sometimes it just takes enough people cheering as you do it. What if 2028 comes, and instead of an election, we get an indefinite extension of executive rule "until order is restored"? What if Los Angeles was just a test, just a trial balloon to see how far the public, media, and courts would tolerate a federal lockdown? Even if it doesn’t happen exactly that way, the signs, the legal groundwork, the attacks on media, the control of federal agencies, the rhetorical groundwork, are all there. Stay vigilant SAV'ers! If this seems terrifying, it should. But the point of examining these possibilities isn’t to create despair; it’s to stay vigilant. Democracies don’t always vanish in a single coup, they erode under the weight of "emergencies," hollowing out institutions until no one notices the final death rattle. I saw this quote recently: " The scariest part of authoritarianism isn’t the tanks in the streets, it’s when the streets are empty because everyone has accepted it". Duterte taught us that once the strongman playbook begins, the exit ramps disappear quickly. I want to make sure catch every Cabinet meeting. They are so utterly surreal. Every other sentence out of each of cabinet member's mouths is verbal representation of deep throating The Donald's dick (not so deep according to Stormy Daniels), while at the same time they try to outdo each other on just how outrageous their claims of success can be. This last week it was between RFK, JR and Pam Bondi who said the stupidest thing ever said in a Presidential Cabinet meeting. First there was Pam Bondi who in between the slobbery licks of Trumps balls claimed that Trump saved the lives of 238,000,000 Americans in his first 100 days of office. So, he saved the lives of 3/4 of all Americans in 100 days, unbelievable. Apparently it's because the DEA and FBI ceased some crazy amount of fentanyl. And I guess 238,000,000 Americans were in a queue waiting on their lethal dose of fentanyl. Well, do you blame them? With what's going on with this administration in the first 100 days? I'm sure 3/4 of Americans would just assume take their Bondi-allotted fentanyl dose and give their final salute to this idiocracy. Thanks to Trump, 238,000,000 Americans have to continue to live through this hell. In case you didnt' see it... And then we have RFK, JR. who saw how outrageous Pam was and had dug deep into his deepest insanity and came out with the claim that the department of Health and Human Services under Biden were conducting a child trafficing ring for sex that trafficed 300,000 children. Here's this wackadoo during the cabinet meeting; I bet Pam was pissed. This claim is way more outrageous than her's, I think. But I mean she's at a positional disadvantage at the cabinet card table. Her spot means she has to speak before RFK, jr, and he gets to see her cards before he speaks. He's probably always going to "trump" her on stupidity. I can't wait till the next cabinet meeting!

I suppose those who are still here have wondered where I've been. Well a few weeks ago I was full of fire and brimstone ready to start cataloging all of the MAGA voters who FAFO. But then a friend of mine gave me this gook "The Psychology of Stupidity". I was an enthusiastic reader, but the more I read the more I realized that myself and everyone who has followed this site already has encountered everything in this book. The books chapters are written by different psyhcologists and basically they each catalog and discuss the types and extent of stupidity in humans. I promise, if you read even 1/10th of the stories of stupid antivaxxers on here then you know everything in this book already but these authors are just really good at articulating just how stupid stupid people really are. But the thing that got me about this book is that it offered no hope. It basically says over and over that you can't use reason and logic to convince a stupid person of anything. This really depressed me. Maid me feel like everything I did on this blog was worthless. And honestly, how many stupid anitvaxxers read these stories and learned anything? Hell, most of the people on here thought they were right all the way to their death. They are so stupid they'd rather die of covid than sick sying of the vaccine! So since my last post I've been curled up in ball on my bed sucking my thumb while America crumbles more each passing day. The country is being run by stupid people for stupid people. I like most reaonable people simply gave up. How can we possibly go to battle to convince people to fight for the AMERICA that became great after WWII and became the symbol and aspiration of the world when they just want to live in some kind of existence that's seems to be America in the late 1800s early 1900s but without all of the immigrants headed here. Actually, I can't figure out what era they want America to be like AGAIN. But then recently I started seeing a lot of major billionaire backers turning on Trump, and now Fox news seems to be stepping over the Trump wall to tell the truth on things like Trump's first 100 days is the worst ever. Ah, so then I started thinking about how MAGA's allegence to Trump and the MAGA movement is not unlike how people feel about their sports teams. When happy with their team they only talk bad about their rival teams and accept every and all bad rumors and even falsehoods about their hated rival teams. However, when their team really starts losing over and over they turn on their Head Coach and want him fired. I think we are on this path now. The damage from the tarrifs haven't really kicked in yet. The economic situation is like the sinking of the Titantic. We've hit the iceberg and we're sinking but the boat is till afloat. And like the titantic most of the MAGA people are mostly the third class people stuck on the lower decks without any lifeboats. The first cycle of shipments reflecting the tarrifs will arrive or not starting in late May. At that point the hull starts taking in a lot more water and America will begin to tip and Trumps days will be numbered. What sucks is that the only way to save America is for the ship to sink. I'm already veering from the format I promised two posts ago. I promise to get back to regular programming. There is just so much to unpack about what's happening right now, but also this becomes even more justification for presenting and documenting the reactions of MAGA voters as they realize that they've been betrayed. I found this interview with David Frum and he gives a raw and brilliant view of what's happening with Trump and his administration. He declines to call this administration's actions as isolationists and instead considers this administration as predators. He points out how the Atlantic-European region has experienced one hegemony after another, and that world neighbors end up banding together against such hegemony to end it. He gives many examples but then points out that American hegemony has been different. Firstly, that no nation has ever been this powerful, but that we've held off this gang of nations who would topples us us by offering really good deals that benefit those nations, like welcoming them into world trade, involving them in international banking systems, protection militarily, humanitarian aid, etc. All of that good will is being crushed, and now we are the obnoxious predatory nation that has become dangerous, and we're seeing these nations form coalitions to fight back. I highly recommend watching this interview, there are so many gems here: I'm now realizing that there is a war going on between MAGA, and not just two thirds of Americans but the rest of the world who is already forming a coalition against this obnoxious administration. I'm now certain that MAGA is going to lose because America is NOT a fertile ground for fascism like some countries were in the 1930s when the fascists took advantage of the terrible economic situation and then pumped government money into building armies, tanks and planes and economically improved peoples lives which gave them more power. No, the economy was great when these wanna-be fascists clowns entered the white house, and its looking very much like the very people who put this idiot in charge are the ones who are going to suffer the most because of it. And they will turn on Trump. I believe they will, and we are here to document it. So, they are going to lose. The question is, how much of the damage that they are doing is going to be permanent. Certainly other nations can't trust America anymore. If you watch nothing else this is the most inspirational part of the interview: Even today, 5 GOP senators voted with the Democrats to condemn these Trump tariffs. I can see a glimmer of light at the end of this tunnel, let's just hope its not a train.

People in America who pinned their hopes on Donald Trump will be  finding out  that they helped put a sociopath in the White House who does not care about them. Like you, I'm watching what's happening with the complete dismantling of America by MAGA on both the domestic and foreign policy fronts. It is absolutely disgusting. This has become much larger than just a health issue. I've been watching and wondering where is the resistance? Where are the protests? Why are we just sitting around and watching this happen? Then I looked in the mirror and realized that I too am watching all of this happen and have been paralyzed with shock. No more. I can't take it anymore. So, I started thinking about what I can do, and realized I've built a community of equally outraged Americans. Also there are at least 800 more requests of people wanting to join these discussions. But since this has become a much larger issue than just a health and science denial issue, I feel the need to increase the scope of this site to include all of the issues facing Americans including health, education, science, loss of benefits, loss of services, and everything that happening that is destroying and will destroy the lives of millions of Americans. In the same spirit of this site, instead of reporting on all of the outrageous and anti-american activities of the GOP and this rogue administration, I'd like to highlight the stories of MAGA voters whose lives are being torn apart by the wishes of the Billionaire class. We've already seen some of these stories, like the MAGA man in Wisconsin whose immigrant wife was taken away by ICE (who actually still doesn't regret his vote), and teachers who now realize they are losing federal funding and their class sizes will grow and resources being taken away. Farmers who are angry they are losing subsidies, and so on. In the coming months these stories will proliferate and we need a place to send other MAGAs to see the suffering their comrades are going through. I have several requests of the current community. Firstly, I'd like to get your feedback on this idea. Secondly, supposing this is a go, I will need help managing and moderating the community. Surely, there will be Russian trolls and angry MAGAs who sneak in when I start allowing more community members in, as well as bots advertising some products as we saw when I started this site (if I can get donations back up these can be paid roles, but for now there's no significant financing for that). Thirdly, I'm going to need help scouring media and social media for these stories. Rocky is a former Marine and is head custodian at a high school in San Antonio, TX. Rocky and his wife Dalila Holguin-Gaitan have been married for 21 years and have two sons. Rocky and Dalila check so many anti-vaxxer boxes. Super political, hundreds of anti-vaxx posts and extremely religious. A goatee seems to be a major player in the anti-vaxx world, and not only does Rocky have one, but he also posted this goatee selfie (we didn't crop it 😂). Do you think they've learned their lesson? So many of them never do. Here are just some of the hundreds of anti-vaxx posts that Rocky and Dalila shared last year. You can pick any day on Dalila's timeline and you'll most likely find an anti-vaxx post. Rocky contracts Covid and is hospitalized on 11/19/21. Dalila posted a lot of prayers and religious messaging. GoFundMe is activated. After almost 2 months, he finally opens his eyes on 1/19/22. 1/26/22, they're hoping for rehabilitation soon. 4 days later Dalila posted this. WTF? On 2/2/22, he finally gets to rehabilitation. Just 12 days later, he's back in the hospital. 3/1/22 - Rehab didn't go well and he ended up with another infection and some other issues. He's currently still hospitalized. Dalila still proudly uses this as her FB profile photo. They're running a Rocky's BBQ Plate Fundraiser in a few weeks. Get better Rocky! We're hoping you make a full recovery and change your stance on vaccines. If this doesn't scare you to get vaccinated, nothing will. A vaccine is so much easier, not only than all of the pain and suffering Rocky is going through but that his entire family is enduring. Get vaccinated. Get your booster. He was hospitalized since November 19, 2021 and didn't pass until August 5th. I can't imagine the misery of spending 37 weeks or 259 days in the hospital...or the hospital bills. From the pictures above, it looks like it was a horrible existence. Think of all the moments he missed with his children and his wife while he was hospitalized and how many more he will miss in the future. Will his beloved Packers win another Super Bowl? He'll never find out. There are so many things that he will never get to experience because he refused a shot. Was it worth it? When will this end? How many more people have to die? How many people will suffer from long Covid? Covid isn't going away and I'm tired of people who scoff at the vaccine then ask for money and help after they are sick. We've been battling this virus for years now. We have the tools to fight it but people keep choosing to believe lies and misinformation instead of science and the consequences can be dire and/or deadly. According to this obituary, Karl Blagg of Hudson, Florida died on August 22, 2021. As you'll see, he died of Covid, and you'll see why he didn't simply get vaccinated. From doing this site the last few weeks, it's becoming clear that unvaccinated obese men over 50 with BEARDS are the most at-risk group. Georgette and her husband Joe share a Facebook account so it's difficult to tell which one is posting. However, either way, her brother almost died from a COVID infection and she still didn't get vaccinated, and then SHE got COVID and died. Her brother gets off the ventilator on June 2: She posts that she's not getting vaccinated on August 1st: She posts an easily fact-checked bunch of conspiracy lies on August 3rd: She dies on Sept 1st. She died on her birthday. It was her birthday yesterday (Sept 1): Some things don't make sense.

See Below Original Post (10/13/21): According to social media reports (below), Mark "Grizzly Patriot" Friesen is intubated with COVID at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mark was a candidate for the People's Party of Canada who lost with only 5.8% of the vote (no PPC candidate has won any riding in Canada). The PPC is a fringe political party in Canada started by Maxime Bernier, formerly of the Conservative Party (think Tea Party in America). Their platform is far-right populism (even though they deny it). Mark has been one of the most outspoken critics of anything related to solving the pandemic including masks, lockdowns, vaccines, mandates, and vaccine passports. Mark recently mounted a failed lawsuit against the Saskatchewan government to stop the mandatory vaccination policy. There are a lot of public anti-vaxxer statements from Mark to choose from, as it's obvious that he wants to be the anti-vaccine champion of Canada. You can find statements yourself by just Googling his name. However, I'll try to present enough for you to get the picture and save you some time. By the way, these are all within the past month: He posts a video with false statements "by very very reliable sources". Like, it is obvious that this guy is making stuff up. In actuality, necrotizing pneumonia is relatively common for people who end up on a ventilator for a long time (for instance, see this paper). From the paper linked: "In our experience, NP is a relatively common, albeit neglected, complication in mechanically ventilated COVID-19 patients, possibly originating in poorly vascularized areas of lung parenchyma. Hello! Sorry for being a little quiet over the last couple of weeks. Life has been hectic between work + kids. It's also harder to find new stories. That is until someone sent us this one. Let's meet 35-year-old Garnet Harper (Lando Elijah on FB). Garnet owns a mobile auto detailing company, is married to Meghan Harper, and has five young kids. Meghan is a homeschool teacher, and I'd classify them as "crunchy" parents. This may be our longest story ever, spanning over the last three years.
