Last year was the deadliest for active-duty law enforcement in nearly a century, with COVID-19 identified as the leading cause of death for both 2020 & 2021. "Some 458 local, state, tribal and federal officers died in the line of duty in 2021, according to a preliminary report from the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum (NLEOMF). That makes an increase of 55% from the previous year's tally of 295 and the highest total number since 1930." With Covid as the leading cause of death for police, why are police unions still resisting the vaccine? I have some thoughts on this but I'll never comprehend why so many in law enforcement are anti-vaxxers. Today, I'm going to share three stories from anti-vaxx police officers who contracted Covid. Wayne Stickels Name: Wayne Stickels Age: 34 Home: Victorville, California Died: March 1, 2022 Wayne Stickels was a police lieutenant with the Fort Irwin Police Department. Unfortunately, he was also an anti-vaxxer. He leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. Wayne worked with the Military Working Dog (MWD). Here are some of his anti-vaxx posts. Wayne got hospitalized due to Covid at the end of November. GoFundMe was activated by end of January. Lots of family and friends were asking for prayers. On January 23, he's finally awake and able to post again on Facebook. On 2/26, he's back in the ICU. He sadly passed away on March 1, 2022. Todd Nestor Name: Todd Nestor Age: 43 Home: Kingwood, West Virginia Current Condition: Hospitalized Todd Nestor is a Deputy Sheriff at Preston County Sheriff's Office. He resigned from the Kingwood Police Department due to a dispute with a drug investigation. He later sued the mayor & city council stating that he was forced to resign because he was investigating prominent WV residents. It ended with a settlement out of court. Todd is married with five children under 18 years old. Here are his Covid thoughts. He then shared this on February 26, 2022. He contracted Covid in October 2021. He was hospitalized for almost two months. It sounds like he has a long road ahead of him. Of course, GoFundMe was activated. He wasn't as popular as Wayne, above. John Starks Name: John Starks Age: 70 Home: Jeffersonville, Indiana Died: December 8, 2021 John Starks proudly served as a police officer for the Clark County Sheriff's Department since 1974. That is 47 years in law enforcement. He was known as a workaholic. He leaves behind his wife and two sons. He was quite the public anti-vaxxer. He sadly passed away on December 8, 2021. But wait, there's some drama after his passing on his vaccination status. Line of duty death? After his death, friends shared on FB that he was indeed vaccinated. He made his stance pretty clear on Facebook. Are they saving face? I'll let you decide. Please get vaccinated. Get your booster.

Paul Vaccaro is an interesting character. According to our anedotal evidence, he holds the record for the most anti-vaxx posts. Let's see where this leads him. In early 2020, Paul started living a retired life after 30 years with Publix. Paul was very passionate about the Confederacy. I'm not a history buff but I do know that this was the side fighting to keep slavery, and also the side that LOST. Paul is so into this that he dressed up as a Confederate soldier on one of his most sacred days. Paul's other passion was Trump. The Trump obsession seems to be another trend we find within the anti-vaxx world. I can share hundreds of his anti-vaxx posts but I'll give you just a sample. I knew I'd find a Rittenhouse and an Angel of Death in his feed. In one of his posts, he mentioned that he'd love to shake the Washington trooper's hand. If you recall, that trooper lost his job due to the vaccine mandate...then died from Covid. This was his last public post. Seems quite fitting. He gets hospitalized in early February and is quickly put on a ventilator. His friend is hopeful that he's gonna beat this. And sadly, Paul passed away on March 2, 2022. Don't be a Paul. Danny Strode was single and successful. He owned both Southwest Propane and Canon’s Southwest Septic Services. He enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle and spending quality time with his friends (sounds like a profile on Match.com). While living in New Mexico, his heart was in the Ozarks. He planned to retire there in the near future but Covid had other plans. He leaves behind two daughters and a son. He loved sharing selfies. I had hundreds to choose from. All taken in 2021. (Update 3/4/22): After 8 months, Jesse Shane Boshears passed away. See below. We saw the news of Vaxman having COVID and thought we'd jump in to help out. Since the start of the pandemic, the CDC reports that 5,681 people ages 18-29 years have passed away due to COVID. At Herman Cain Awards we tend to tread lightly on young adults. I was carefree once and felt invincible during my college years. Jesse Boshears is a 6'3, 300-pound offensive lineman who had just proposed to his high school sweetheart and was about to start football practice with Arkansas Tech. The college years are the ones you look back on and reminisce about. I can only imagine all the fun and excitement he was about to embark on before COVID changed all of that. He was admitted to UAMS the next day. At the beginning of the pandemic, Jesse recognized all the healthcare workers, including his mother, Shelly. Shelly Crain Vincent is a radiologic technologist and, according to LinkedIn, she's also a CT technologist. I'm going to share some of Shelly's antivax posts that were made prior to Jesse's hospitalization. She posted about the grifters at Frontline Doctors, good ole' Junior's rant on immigrants + covid and other antivax articles. Jesse didn't share or post any antivax messaging other than a few that his mom tagged him in. This is the last antivax post that Shelly shared. It was posted on the same day Jesse tested positive. I wonder if they tried treating Jesse with the 2020 antivaxxer favorite drug, Hydroxychloroquine? And of course, there's always that one friend with their anecdotal evidence. A week later, Jesse was moved to the ICU. His family and friends had a prayer vigil in the parking lot of the hospital. On 7/6/21, Shelly shared this video and wrote: "I know sometimes I miss a text or call from people who are asking about Jesse. Please know I’m trying to return everyone's messages and calls as fast as I can but I decided to share this news with everyone so that God would know how thankful we are! #StandStrong #JesusStrong #JesseStrong #ThankYouJesus" By this point, Jesse had been on the ECMO and a ventilator for a full week. 😔 August - September 2021 There were a lot of ups and downs. They tried weaning Jesse off his sedation, he got a tracheotomy and a bedsore from being in the hospital for almost 3 months. October 2021 October was a very rough month. Jesse had a stroke, the possibility of needing a lung transplant, a sacral wound from being in the bed for so long, and the worry of all of the potential issues associated with being on the ECMO for such a long period. November 2021 - January 2022 Shelly was told that Jesse is no longer eligible for a lung transplant, the ECMO went up and down, he went off the vent for a short time and then back on. Jesse's doctor advised that he doesn't think his lungs will get better and is not sure what else he can do to improve them. 😔 February 2022 Jesse has now been accepted for further care at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Texas. They're currently waiting for an ECMO and a bed to open up. THV11 did a segment on Jesse and KATV is working with Shelly on a new story. According to the THV11 article, Jesse's family is now VACCINATED! I'm hopeful that this new hospital is the answer they've been waiting for. Thank you to all of the healthcare workers that have worked during this pandemic. I can only imagine how many people have cared for and worked on Jesse, and he's just one part of the larger story. I'm still anxiously awaiting a time in the near future when we no longer have any more stories to write. But for now, we have a few more coming your way. Church pastors have a lot of influence on their congregations and with that comes a lot of responsibility. How many people have taken Covid advice from a pastor like the grifter Greg Locke? Medical professionals and religious leaders who are anti-vaxxers piss me off the most. Here are two stories of anti-vaxx pastors who spread miscommunication and paid the ultimate price with their life. Travis Collins Name: Travis Collins Age: 48 Home: West Plains, MO Died: January 15, 2022 Travis was the Lead Pastor at China Union Church. Travis and his wife Marla were another couple who shared a Facebook account (seems to be a trend in the anti-vaxxer world). Here are some of the thoughts they had prior to contracting Covid. A very creative way to guilt your congregation into giving your church more $$$. It starts off with the "unspoken prayers" which equates to "we're embarrassed to let everyone know that we have Covid". The next announcement is that he is home and then right back in the hospital. They're both sick and struggling. Pastor Travis had to be moved to a different hospital and is in the ICU. Prayer warriors are activated. He's now on a ventilator. Booya! They need a miracle and God is the miracle worker! He's holding strong and then the next day his kidneys start failing. He now needs a hospital where he can get dialysis. This doesn't sound good. And Travis sadly goes home to Jesus. Christopher Miller Name: Christopher Miller Age: 67 Home: Hamburg, NY Died: December 25, 2021 Chris is the pastor at Hope Christian Center. They are "Born Again, Water Baptized, Spirit Filled, On Fire believers in Jesus Christ-THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES!" According to his obituary, Chris wasn't married and has no children. Unfortunately, he was quite the anti-vaxxer. Chris Miller shared a lot of anti-vaxx messaging on both his personal and church group's pages. This is Pastor Chris’s assistant at the church. Everyone is battling sinus issues? This sounds like a lot more than sinuses. Confirmed "covid pneumonia". I'd like to know from a medical professional if you use the term "covid pneumonia". We see it used a lot by anti-vaxxer families. Chris is getting better. Is this the cat bounce? While Pastor Chris is hospitalized with Covid, the church assistant posted this in the church's FB group. She's doubling down! 👀 Yup, it was the cat bounce. The ventilator is back to 100%. Pastor Chris earns his Herman Cain Award. There seems to be a little drama. This post was written on Chris’s page by his assistant, Lisa. (I'm assuming it was Lisa). This is from Mark Miller, Chris’s nephew. 👀 More drama. The funeral is on 1/8/22. Mark Miller (Chris’s nephew) contracted covid from Pastor Chris’s funeral. It looks like someone wanted to keep Covid hush hush. Comments from the 1/12/22 post... It looks like a ton of family members passed last year. I couldn’t find out who or why. Now Dave Miller (Mark’s father and Pastor Chris's brother) is on life support and it doesn’t sound good. He never confirmed Covid but stated that he had pneumonia. Did he also contract Covid at the funeral? We don't have the answer to that. Poor Mark. Now his father Dave passed away. Mark Miller seemed to have a lot more sense than his uncle. Get vaccinated. Douglas James Hall, or DJ to his friends, was a driver for Nexhaul Trailer Company. He was married with a son and stepdaughter. On paper, he comes across as a typical, boring person, just your average anti-vaxxer. But we at the HCAz think he deserves a feature, as he had two things going for him. As usual, we will start by boring you with his anti-vax rhetoric, before we get to the juicy bits. As you can see, Douglas is not coy; he tells it as it is. He believes it's all scaremongering. Here we go again, another anti-vaxxer who effed around but her partner is doing the finding out. Let me introduce you to Courtney Jean Moore and her husband Brandon Moore. Brandon is the one finding out. He had no public anti-vaxx posts, but Courtney made up for his lack. Brandon was only 31 years old and had two young daughters and a son. Courtney was sharing anti-vaxx posts right up to when Brandon contracted Covid. Aaaaaaand...here we go with "unspoken prayers". Prayer warriors are activated. The money "hand" shot. Relevant Bible passages activated. More oofs. 😢 Brandon heal... 11 days away from his family. No expense was spared in the promotion of this GoFundMe. This update doesn't sound good at all. The vaccine sounds so much easier. And Brandon sadly earned his HCA on February 16, 2022. Two days later, his friends ran a Garth Brooks tickle raffle and are holding a "2022 Spring Charity Ride" for Brandon's family. Brandon was only 31 years old. Don't think it can't happen to you. Jimmy was a proud veteran and patriot, having served in both the Army and Navy. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Merrill and USS Philippines during operations in the Persian Gulf. According to his obituary, he pursued modeling, boxing, and his most recent passion was acting. In recent years, Jimmy acted in numerous films and shows and was recently cast in a major part in a Netflix series. Jump to comments. At this point, he thinks he's at the Westin and is demanding another mattress. His friend takes over his FB to ask for help. Ugh! 🤬 Jimmy's sister now takes over with updates. First off, what do you think she means by this post which was shared while Jimmy was hospitalized? 🤔 I think the nurse was being facetious. Another middle-aged man who had a lot of life left to live. Harlan Hulsey was living a great life with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was big in the race car world. Harlan is now just another anti-vaxxer who mocked Covid, was hospitalized for more than 100 long days, and then died from the thing he mocked. Jump to comments. Shitty way to spend your 25th wedding anniversary. At least he recognized that he was making his wife’s life a living hell. By 1/13/22, he's been hospitalized for 80 days. Originally, I was planning to give you all a compilation of past stories that had interesting commentary from anti-vaxxers and their friends. I stumbled upon a story we featured over a month ago and noticed a lot has happened since. As I was digging more into her story, I realized Lori deserved her own feature. This is gonna be an interesting ride. Lori and her friends are quite the cast of characters. They have homemade Covid treatments and believe the hospitals are purposely killing you. Lori is EXTREMELY religious and political, and proudly shares her views on Facebook. She's also an EXTREME anti-vaxxer. She's pretty dramatic. We'll start with this post she made on February 19, 2021. She's expressing her anger toward her daughter Selene. This will come back into play later when she's sick with Covid. Selene calls out her mother for being an abuser. 👀 A few days later, she takes another stab at calling out her daughter. Selene doesn't take the bait. #TeamSelene And one last 🗡️🗡️. Selene doesn't take the bait again. #TeamSelene We'll move on from Lori vs her daughter and jump right into Lori's anti-vaxx stance. Lori has hundreds of anti-vaxs posts so I'll just share a few. Not even her son's doctor could persuade her thinking. Then she posted this on 1/14 and 1/15/22. (Hint: she's sick at this point.) She then advised her friends to not take Remdesivir when they go to the ER. (Hint: she's in the ER.) Her friend's suggestions are quite entertaining. 🍿🍿 On 1/16/22, this is her first mention that she's not doing well and has Covid. She has friends telling her to take horse dewormer, friends sending her "protocol instructions", Dr. Mccullough's homemade recipe, homemade hydroxychloroquine and a special vegetable soup recipe that will cure her. You can't even make this shit up. Then she shares that a doctor revealed the truth to her and she has the report to prove it. She must feel very special to have such important information. 🤪🤪🤪🤪 She has to take another dig at Dr. Fauci. Five days later she shared this "guilt trip" post meant for her daughter Selene. Her friends also chime in again with advice on how to treat Covid. Selene doesn't take the bait. 😎 BTW, Selene is the complete opposite of her mother. #TeamSelene Back to Lori. She has finally announced that she has Covid and she's in the ICU on a BIPAP. She really doesn't want to go on a ventilator. Again, she's very dramatic in most of her posts. It's selfie time. Sympathy shot. 📷 It sounds like she's going on the ventilator. More FB doctors in the comment section. And who is her friend that had to let her know about getting her cell service back? 🤷‍♀️ Are you still with me? Ok. She then goes dark after her 1/30 post and reappears on 2/21. Hallelujah! She's the first person to get off the ventilator. Such a lucky gal. It's rare for us to see anti-vaxxers publically thanking the healthcare workers. 👏 This is the only praise that she'll get from me. She's now asking about nursing homes. 😬 Come on, God! She has a lot of time to worry about what's on the news. She wants America First! She sure asks for a lot of prayers. Her friends must be tired from all of the praying. Only 10 more days. Woo hoo! She finally got a shower. She's really aged in the hospital. It looks like she has a lot of time on her hands to still get a dig in. On this post from 3/6/22, Lori's friend asked her if she was vaccinated or had the booster. Lori responded that she has too much information on the ingredients and potential side effects and she doesn't trust the CDC.. 🤦‍♀️ Oh shit, she posted the Angel of Death. In the HCAz world, we know this is NOT a good sign. This was her last post made on 3/7/22. It doesn't sound good. Update: She just shared this today while laying in a hospital bed. We'll have to wait and see how this all ends. Why would anyone want to risk going through almost two months of this? If Lori makes it, I, unfortunately, don't foresee her changing her views. Chris Leben is a former UFC star and was a contestant on the reality show "The Ultimate Fighter". Before contracting Covid, he had recently opened up a combat sports gym on Pacific Beach in San Diego. In mid-January, Chris contracted Covid for a second time. He had pretty mild symptoms and thought he was over with it. A week later, on February 1, 2022, he was hospitalized and developed serious lung issues and pneumonia. This was his first public announcement about being hospitalized. He goes dark for a few days on Facebook and then shares these posts. He "didn't tap"! On February 20th, while still hospitalized, Chris shared this video. He states how lucky he is in life and how he survived this. He's not out of the woods yet. Then, on March 5th, he was finally out of the hospital and shared this video. "1% better every day". On March 6th, he shared his story about what happened to him medically and the personal journey he went through. He does advise that he was unvaccinated. We hope you get better Chris! Please advocate for your followers to get vaccinated. Also, we've had some messages asking about Vaxman. All is well with Vaxman. Dale Owen Hardy Jr. I don’t think we’ve ever showcased an awardee who was more loyal to the anti-vaxxer cause. Dale probably deserves his own SAV feature. He's a proud pureblood. He is the founder of the social media outlet ENAS.life (I don't think anyone has ever visited his site). Dale was also campaigning for Weston Martinez, who's running for Texas Land Commissioner. Dale is another self-identified patriot. Diane Knowlton, 67, Blue Spring, MO, Suffering Long COVID. Double Down. Meaning: to continue doing something in an even more determined way than before. Diane is a coordinator for a teen club for kids and adults with disabilities. She was widowed, but remarried in 2018, to Chris Knowlton. She has four adult kids. Her daughter Michelle has Down Syndrome. Michelle is the innocent one in this story, so please, no negative comments about her. As always, we start off with her Anti-vaxx shenanigans. The first picture is slightly off topic, but on the HCAz the Angel of Death has a near 100% kill rate. When we see her on an Anti-vaxxer's page we always post it. The above Anti-vaxx posts might seem tame compared to the heavyweights we get here, but remember, there is still a Double Down to come. In August, things go pear-shaped. It seems mother and daughter were lucky and made it out of the hospital. But... And thus begins a series of Double Down posts. She updates us on her condition. And Doubles Down again. Carol Ann Mosar Young and her husband Richard Young were both anti-vaxxers. Carol was well educated and holds a master's degree in elementary education. Before retiring, Carol was a public school teacher for 34 years. This is the perfect weekend story. Let me introduce you to Anti-vaxxers Jason D. Parks and his wife Traca. They have four children and one grandchild. So this guy understood virology and the immune system better than most everyone who has been posted on SAV, yet he railed against the vaccine and mandates on his Twitter and Facebook feeds, and he gave several presentations about therapeutics for the "China virus". One has to wonder if he was against the COVID vaccine for business reasons. According to his LinkedIn page: Dr. Porter, Founder, Director and CEO of Asgard Brewing Company, Inc. Dr.Porter is Chief Scientific Officer of Moexa Pharmaceuticals Limited [MPL]. MPL is a drug development company with a pipeline focusing on specialized therapeutics for immunooncology and fibrosis. The company is particularly focused on new treatment solutions involving SMAD therapeutics along the TGF-B pathway. Moexa has secured dozens of global patents and has initiated Proof of Concept work on our cancer NCEs. MPL has also discovered and is developing a new therapeutic for pulmonary fibrosis caused by COVID-19. Dr Porter has managed the strategic planning and product development for MPL’s cancer and COVID treatments. So, if everyone gets vaccinated they aren't likely to need these therapeutics, now, are they? He should've gotten vaccinated and stuck to his Asgard Brewery business at his advanced age. The thing that seems to keep them separate is the amount of empathy they feel for others.
